ASUS Nexus 7 Initial Hardware Overview

After opening the ASUS Nexux 7 tablet, I must say that I am impressed. The quality of the build is that of a Sony or Apple product. Apparently Google is selling the devices for cost and with the additional $25 credit to the Play Store the overall cost comes down to a mere $175. The cost is perfect for student use and can almost be considered a worthy investment for just about every socio-economic group, especially if AT&T or Verizon sell them on contract.

With a slick and intuitive interface surpassing that of Apple's stale icon or Microsoft's Windows based interfaces, Google has a clean tile based system, with easy access to a simplified file system, or download folder. This will make it incredibly easy to share documents and re-use them across web based applications. This system is super fast and responsive, and even though a keyboard is always better for typing, the Nexus will suffice for simple short user input via the screen keyboard.

The only really major drawback like the iPad is that neither system was designed for multi-users. With the low cost this shouldn't be a major issue, as it is in reach of more students and schools than any other option currently available.
